Mitcham City Brass, South Australia

Mitcham City Brass (based in Adelaide, South Australia) is a progressive C Grade brass band enjoying much success over the last few years, winning the 2017 State C Grade titles and coming third in the 2011 Australian National Brass Band Championships. The band is one of the busiest in Adelaide, staging many concerts throughout the year as well as performing at a wide range of community events. Our repertoire includes traditional brass band marches, hymns and contest pieces as well as movie soundtrack and popular music from the 1940's to present. New members are always welcome. Practice is held on Monday and Thursdays commencing at 7.30 pm in our Band Room at the corner of Grange Road and Belair Road, Torrens Park, opposite the Mitcham Council Chambers. Lessons are available for those wishing to brush up their skills or those wishing to learn a brass instrument from scratch.

The Australian National Band Championships will be held over the Easter weekend in 2019 – Thursday 18 April to Sunday 21 April in Brisbane. While Mitcham City Brass is unable to attend this year, we send our best wishes to our neighbouring bands Marion City Band and Warriparinga Brass who are heading over from SA to compete.

If you are wanting to watch proceedings live from the comfort of home (or anywhere for that matter) ... tune into Brassbanned for all the action of the event.

Over two dozen community bands support the Adelaide ANZAC Day Commemorative March, coming from all over Adelaide and even as far away as Hahndorf and Mt Barker. While in some capital cities they have chosen to use piped music, the ANZAC Day Committee remains strongly in support of using community bands playing a variety of marching music to keep our veterans in step. It contributes to the special atmosphere of our March. We are very lucky to have so many bands that volunteer to participate. The March wouldn't be the same without them.

We are proud and humbled to have had the opportunity to honour our servicemen and women, past and present, by taking part the Anzac March in the city this morning. "They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old. Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun, and in the morning, We will remember them." Lest we forget.
